Forensic Repair Training

When a phone arrives dead, water damaged or with a failed charging port, the evidence on it is out of reach until the device works again. Our forensic repair training teaches the board-level skills needed to get it working: hands-on practical work at the bench on real iPhone, iPad and Samsung logic boards, not classroom theory.

All courses take place in person at our training lab at FoneFunShop Ltd, 132 Handsworth Road, Sheffield, S9 4AE. Each session is one-to-one or one-to-two (maximum of two participants) with one of our engineers, runs 9:30 am to 3:00 pm with lunch provided, and ends with a completion certificate.

What you practise at the bench:

  • Fault finding on logic boards: identifying damaged components and testing them for resistance, value and function.
  • Charging port replacement: a 4-stage process: remove the port, clean and prepare the board, fit the new port, and repair damaged tracks so data and charging work again.
  • Surface-mounted components: preheating, removing, cleaning and fitting components.
  • Soldering iron and hot air rework: temperature and airflow control, and using solder, paste and flux correctly.

Choose from 1-day or 2-day micro soldering, 2-day or 3-day advanced fault finding, diagnostics and microsoldering, or the 5-day beginner to advanced course, which also covers disassembly, screens, batteries, flex cables and testing repaired devices.
